Pultruded FRP Grating (I-Bar)
FRP grating assembled from pultruded I- or T-bearing bars and cross rods. Higher glass content and much greater stiffness in the span direction than moulded grating — for longer spans and heavier loads.

Pultruded grating uses continuous-fibre bearing bars — typically I-sections — locked together by cross rods. Because the fibres run along the bar, stiffness in the span direction is far higher than in moulded grating, so the same depth covers longer clear spans or heavier loads.
It is the choice for platforms with wide support spacing, vehicle-adjacent walkways and long trench covers. The trade-off: load is carried in one direction only, and cut edges need proper sealing.
Bar series and spacing (open area) are selected from the manufacturer’s load tables; we supply the tables for the exact series quoted.

Frequently asked questions
When is pultruded better than moulded?
When the span between supports is long or the load is high and a one-way span is acceptable. For short spans and two-way load distribution, moulded grating is simpler and cheaper.
Can pultruded grating be walked on without grit?
Plain bars are slippery when wet or oily; we recommend a gritted surface for walkways.
Do you supply the support structure?
Yes — FRP profiles, clips and fasteners can be supplied together; structural design stays with your engineer.
